about Mérida The “República Bolivariana de Venezuela” is South America’s sixth-largest country, with an area of 916,445 square kilometers. Measuring some 1,500 kilometers east to west and 1,300 kilometers from north to south, Venezuela sits at the “top” of South America, bordered by Colombia to the west, Brazil to the south and Guyana to the east. It’s northern border is a privileged 2,813 kilometers of Caribbean coastline! (The national territory also includes a number of islands bathed by crystalline waters!)
